So, I keep hearing from everywhere, "Hey check out my BLOG", blog, what the hell is a BLOG?
Well I decided to poke around and find out......So here it is. Im not really sure what we will all talk about, but I'll throw a couple things out there and see where it goes.
First of all I gotta mention this awesome weather we been having, summer finally arrived. Although, way to short, we got to savor every drop of sunshine. My garden looks pretty crappy tho, My tomatoes are doing pretty good but the peppers apparently weren't in the mood. Our yard is pretty much sand being that we are only about 1 mile from lake Michigan. I wanna move to a weather zone ABOVE frickin 5......six or seven would work.....
Periodically I'm gonna put up a recipe or two, always looking for something new to make. I have one here I think you all would like and pretty appropriate for today's weather.
Blue Cheese Bacon Coleslaw
Crispy and creamy coleslaw flavored with blue cheese and bacon. Whether eaten as a side or a topping on a burger or hot dog, this slaw will add tons of flavor to your meal.
Recipe type: Side Dish
Serves: 10
Ingredients
- 3-4 slices bacon, diced
- 1 small green cabbage, cored and thinly shredded
- ¼ small red cabbage, shredded
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ tablespoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- ½ cup crumbled blue cheese
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Cook diced bacon in a pan until crisp. Drain on paper towels and reserve.
- Combine green and red cabbage and carrot in a large bowl.
- In a medium bowl, mix together sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, and salt and pepper.
- Add about ½ the dressing to the cabbage and stir to combine well. Keep adding dressing and stirring until all the cabbage is coated well. You may not need all the dressing.
- Stir in blue cheese crumbles and green onion.
- Sprinkle bacon on top.
I made this and it was delicious, FYI, The dressing seemed to me to taste like a real fresh ranch which I think you could use by itself for homemade Ranch. Add your herb of choice to kick it up a bit.....ie, Dill, basil, green onion etc.
